The table below is to help assign an evidence level for the indicators based on data used. This follows the IPCC guidance for consistent treatment of uncertainty (see here) under which evidence level depends of type, quantity, amount and consistency of data used.

Indicators under Limited Evidence Medium Evidence Robust Evidence
Water Quantity & Quality Evaluated using only data near outlet and/or for less than 2 years Evaluated using locations only along the main surface water bodies /extraction points and/or for a 2-10 years Evaluated using locations providing coverage of the basin and for >10 years
Basin Condition Remotely-sensed landuse Locally validated land cover and infrastructure location
Biodiversity IUCN Redlist data only Validated by local experts and studies
Provisioning & Regulating Services F1 level calculation only/ expert opinion F2 level calculation with extensive spatial and medium temporal coverage F3 level calculation with extensive spatial and robust temporal coverage
Cultural Services Expert opinion Limited survey or coverage analysis Dedicated surveys or specifically designed studies
Governance and Stakeholders Low diversity of opinion: < 10 survey respondents; mostly from a single sector/region in basin Medium diversity of opinion: 10-25 survey respondents from at least 5 sectors / regions in basin High diversity of opinion: Greater than 25 respondents covering > 5 sectors/regions in the basin
